Our approach to standard repertoire

Inspired by tradition and the atmosphere of Salzburg as the birthplace of Mozart, it is natural that the main emphasis of the Chamber Philharmonic’s repertoire is found in Mozart’s music.
However, the repertoire extends from Vivaldi to Hartmann (and other contemporary composers) which means that the orchestra places great importance in the differentiation between the musical styles of the various time periods.
One example is when the Naxos CD with symphonies from C.P.E. Bach was released, resulting in a certain confusion among music journalists worldwide. The orchestra’s office was inundated with the question as to whether authentic instruments had been used. Of course, modern instruments were played but the interpretation was evidently very convincingly authentic. In the words of the magazine “The Penguin Guide to Compact Discs”:
“Yoon Kuk Lee definitely has a command of authentic performance practices and although modern instruments were used here, the structuring of the sound is very clear and pure….”

Unusual Repertoire

Another unique aspect of the orchestra’s repertoire is the large number of orchestra transcriptions, created by Yoon Kuk Lee, which originate from great chamber music treasures. Many years of close cooperation with the members of the orchestra enable him to create customized adaptations for his Chamber Philharmonic.
